Nagaland Govt Doctors Urged to Stop Private Practice
The Nagaland govt doctors have been asked to stop practising medicine privately within the next month. In a recent press conference, Commissioner and Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Y Kikheto Sema, said that this decision was taken by the Nagaland Medicine Council, which observed that the Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) was not being followed by several doctors. He said, “The In-service government doctors not availing of NPA may be allowed to give private consultations and services with prior approval of the competent authority to the needy patients strictly during non-working hours,” as per The Economic Times.
Sema added, “The In-service government doctors who are availing of NPA and involved in private practice in private hospitals/clinics have been directed to either stop the private practice or to forgo their NPA within one month.” An official memorandum has been sent to healthcare services and private hospitals that have any engagements with Nagaland govt doctors to notify them about this decision and urge them to stop obtaining services from them. Sema has issued a warning that any individual or entity failing to comply with this order will face license cancellation.
