Mumbai Dabbawallas to gift King Charles Puneri Pagadi & shawl on his coronation

The United Kingdom is eyeing a grand coronation ceremony for King Charles, who will then officially take over as the reigning monarch of the country. To represent the strong density of the Indian community in the U.K., Mumbai Dabbawallas have been invited to Westminster Abbey for the coronation, which will take place on May 6. Ahead of the royal ceremony, Mumbai Dabbawallas have purchased various traditional gifts from the Warkari community to present to the King, as reported by ANI.

During his last visit to Mumbai, King Charles had met the Dabbawallas at the Churchgate station and had eventually invited them to his wedding with Camilla Parker-Bowles. Consequently, the Dabbawallas will be present at the coronation to pay their respects to the newly crowned King this coming Saturday. King Charles was preceded by Queen Elizabeth II, who remains the longest-serving monarch of the United Kingdom. The mantle was passed on to Charles after her demise last year in September.
