Multiple Terrorist attacks across J&K; 10 fatalities & 33 injuries recorded so far

Jammu and Kashmir’s Union Territory has witnessed a series of terrorist attacks, culminating in three incidents over three days

The most recent terrorist attack occurred on Wednesday at the Army’s Temporary Operating Base (TOB) in Doda district. Terrorists opened fire, injuring five army soldiers and one particular police officer. During the exchange of gunfire, security forces neutralized one among them. The injured personnel were quickly transported to SDH Bhaderwah for medical treatment, as confirmed by an official source speaking to India Today. The Kashmir Tigers terror group claimed responsibility for the assault, escalating tensions in the region. This attack follows two other violent incidents: one in Reasi and another in Kathua. In Reasi, a bus ferrying pilgrims from the Vaishno Devi shrine was attacked on June 9, resulting in 10 fatalities and 33 injuries. This incident has been linked to the same group responsible for targeting an Indian Air Force convoy in Poonch on May 4. In response to the recent attacks, ADGP Anand Jain attributed the violence to the hostile actions of India’s neighbouring country. He noted, “It is our hostile neighbour who always tries to damage the peaceful environment in our country.” He mentioned the fresh infiltration associated with the Hiranagar terror attack, where one of them was killed, and the search for another is ongoing.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh provided further details on the violence in Kathua district. In Saida Sukhal village, located in the Hiranagar sector near the International Border, terrorists fired upon a residence. This incident is part of the broader surge of violence affecting the Jammu region. The string of attacks began with the incident in Reasi, followed by an encounter in Kathua where security forces eliminated a terrorist who had targeted a home. The assault in Doda is the third significant attack within this short period, marking an alarming trend of increased militant activity. In light of these events, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have released a sketch of the terrorist involved in the Reasi bus attack and announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to their capture. The authorities are intensifying efforts to enhance security measures and track down the perpetrators behind these attacks. This recent wave of violence underscores the persistent threat of terrorism in the region, necessitating heightened vigilance and coordinated efforts from security forces to restore and maintain peace. The rapid succession of attacks highlights the ongoing challenge faced by the security apparatus in countering militant activities and protecting civilians in the Union Territory.
