Surprising Opinion of PM Modi about Gen Z’s: Gen-Z’s political inclination!
According to data collected by the social media platform Hunch from over 25,000 respondents between March 15, 2024, and April 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoys strong support from 65.8% of Generation Z individuals. This demographic, comprising those aged between 16 and 25, demonstrated a significant interest in political engagement, with approximately 50% expressing a desire to participate actively in politics. The survey revealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s favourable rating among Gen Z, with 65.8% of respondents endorsing him. Moreover, he emerged as the preferred candidate for 65.5% of respondents, while Rahul Gandhi trailed with only 19.2% support.
Social media emerged as the primary medium for consuming political news among Gen Z, with 62.9% of respondents preferring it, followed by television news (24.6%) and newspapers (12.5%). Ish Goel, Co-Founder and CEO of Hunch, emphasized Gen Z’s interest in politics to effect societal change. This generation prioritizes job creation, technological innovation, and eradicating corruption. They aspire to contribute meaningfully to society through political engagement, focusing on initiatives that drive progress and address contemporary challenges.
An overwhelming 85.4% of respondents supported implementing a mandatory retirement age for politicians, reflecting the younger generation’s desire for a more dynamic political landscape and a call for fresh leadership beyond entrenched incumbents. A user-generated poll on Hunch explored the role of women in politics with varied results. Smriti Irani garnered 32.1% of votes, while Mamata Banerjee led with 26.8%. Nirmala Sitharaman and Draupadi Murmu featured prominently, showcasing the diversity of influential female political leaders.
