Menstrual Cups Reduce Infections, Study Shows
An increasing number of women today are opting for menstrual cups instead of sanitary pads. But there is still some hesitancy among some of them to use menstrual cups because of doubts relating to safety and comfort. However, this accessory is evidently as safe as it is economical in nature. A new study shows that menstrual cups can keep you safe from several infections and keep up overall vaginal health, as per a Kenya-based study by the University of Illinois Chicago. This study recorded that teenage girls who used these cups were less likely to get any infections.
This study was conducted in Kenya to understand using menstrual products at school, and it was observed that menstrual cups would be essential for women who live in lesser sanitary conditions with lesser resources. Moreover, since sanitary pads cannot be recycled, these cups are much better for the environment and garbage disposal. As mentioned earlier, they are also economical as pads need to be bought time and again, which is not the case with cups. Menstrual cups are thus a better choice not only for safety but also for the environment and cost-cutting.
