A 36-year-old IT professional, Vishal Pramod Salvi, committed suicide by jumping into the river in Bopodi, Pune. Vishal left a note stating harassment by his manager named, Zeeshan Haider(A modern day Mughal).
A 36-year-old IT professional, Vishal Pramod Salvi, committed suicide on June 21, 2024, by jumping into a riverbed in Bopodi, Pune. The tragic incident, reported by the Free Press Journal, was attributed to consistent harassment and public humiliation by his manager, Zeeshan Haider. Vishal had worked at an IT company in Yerwada for ten years and was recently fired. Before taking his life, Vishal left a note detailing the harassment he endured and posted a picture of Haider on his WhatsApp status. His sister, Preeti Amit Kamble, complained to Khadki Police Station a month later, on July 21.
The police registered a case against Haider under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for abetment of suicide. According to the FIR, Haider had consistently threatened Vishal with dismissal and publicly humiliated him in front of co-workers, which led to his termination. After his dismissal, Vishal decided to end his life. The police have not yet arrested Haider but are actively investigating the case. A senior police officer from Khadki Police Station assured that appropriate action would be taken against the accused.
