Mansukh Mandaviya: India has recorded reduction in TB
India’s Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently marked his presence at the QUAD Plus side event during the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva. He spoke in detail about India’s progress in the healthcare sector and made a specific mention of how its fight against Tuberculosis has yielded tangible results. India has recorded a sharp 13% reduction in TB incidents from 2015 to 2022, which is higher than the global reduction rate, which rests at 10%.
In addition to this, the mortality rate in TB cases has further gone down 15% during the stated time period, which is far higher than the world average of 5.9%. Mansukh Mandaviya also provided a major update on this topic, saying that India has developed its own mechanism for calculating the burden of Tuberculosis on the health sector. He further stated India’s goal of completely eliminating this disease by the year 2025, which happens to be five years ahead of the global Sustainable Development Goal set by the World Health Assembly. Mansukh Mandaviya took oath as the Health Minister in 2019 and has been helming this key ministry ever since.
