Manipur Violence: HM Amit Shah Calls for All-Party Meet

The persisting fragile situation amidst the Manipur violence has driven the Ministry of Home Affairs to bring all hands to deck. HM Amit Shah has called for an all-party meeting with his cabinet to discuss the ongoing situation in Manipur. As per the MHA spokesperson’s confirmation, this meeting is scheduled on June 24 at 3 pm, wherein leaders across all national and regional parties have been invited to take everyone’s input in deciding the further course of action to stop the violence. This announcement came right after Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Amit Shah on June 21.
The Manipur violence erupted on May 3 after the Meithei community was given Schedule Tribe (ST) status. The other minority communities in the state broke into a protest which ultimately turned violent in nature. Several reports of arson and assaults were reported in the state, which has cost the lives of 120 people and left over 3000 injured. The armed forces and paramilitary were immediately deployed in all corners of the north-eastern state, and Home Minister Amit Shah himself visited the state to take notes of the situation. Further updates on this matter are now expected once this all-party meeting comes to a conclusion.
