Maldives President Muizzu in Trouble as Bharat Begins Boycott
Maldives President Muizzu appears to be heading towards major political turmoil after the massive backlash from Bharat. In a recent development from Maldives, the opposition leaders are calling for Muizzu’s resignation after common citizens based in the nation’s tourism sector raised complaints against the boycott by Bharatiya tourists. Their opposition leader Meekail Naseem has called for a No-Confidence Motion against Muizzu to remove him from power.
He wrote on X, “Have formally requested the Parliament to summon the Foreign Minister for questioning following the inaction & lack of urgency shown by GoM regarding derogatory remarks against PM Modi by its senior officials.” The outrage against Maldives President Muizzu erupted after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lakshwadweep and called on to boost its tourism. Several Maldives netizens, including three of its serving ministers, wrote derogatory messages against PM Modi and the people of Bharat.
In response, Indians have lashed out at Maldives’ hostile behaviour and begun a strong boycott. Maldives has already reported over 10,000 hotel room cancellations, along with thousands of flight tickets. The backlash continues as more people continue to boycott Maldives and explore tourist destinations within Bharat.
