LSG vs RCB : Lucknow Super Giants chase down a mammoth 213 to beat RCB in a close contest
LSG vs RCB : In yet another high-scoring match of this year’s TATA IPL, cricket fans around the world witnessed a sensational clash between Royal Challengers Banglore and Lucknow Super Giants. RCB batted first, wherein Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis put up a strong opening partnership before Kohli got dismissed for 61, with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Their top order continued to stand tall as number 3 Glen Maxwell also swiftly scored 59 runs with 3 fours and 6 sixes in a mere 29 balls, whereas Plessis remained not out at 79 runs in 46 balls. Their feats put RCB in a commanding position with a tally of 212 runs in 20 overs.
Unlike RCB, Lucknow’s top order failed to perform in the second innings as nobody individually reached a double-digit score except captain KL Rahul, who also got out at only 18 runs. However, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran put up a spectacular partnership that completely turned the momentum in favour of their team. While Stoinis hit a powerful 65 runs in just 30 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes, Pooran smashed a magnificent 62 runs in only 19 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes. RCB eventually got back in the game by dismissing both of them with quick successions and the game became evenly poised. In a tensed-up situation, Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan eventually reached the 213 mark and brought the contest to a thrilling finish. Nicholas Pooran was ultimately awarded player of the match for his commendable effort. The next match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.
