LSG vs MI: Mumbai Indians knock Lucknow out of IPL 2023

Last night’s LSG vs MI contest was yet another shining example of the outstanding underdog talent that the team commands. Mumbai Indians just managed to reach the playoffs after RCB’s defeat, and they have made the most of this opportunity. They batted first, and despite losing early wickets of skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, they managed to push their scoreboard thanks to Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma’s efforts and managed to take their total to an above-par 182 runs in 20 overs.  

However, Lucknow Super Giants have a terrific batting order who have chased higher totals, and it was vital for Mumbai bowlers to give their very best. Their young pacer Akash Madhwal rose to this challenge and struck like no other bowler has during playoffs. He kept the mighty Lucknow batters at bay with a fierce economy and took a 5-wicket haul in this crucial game. He picked up the key wickets of Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran and Prerak Mankad to push Lucknow out of the chase. The second innings of LSG vs MI produced a very low score of 101, as Lucknow were all out in just 16.3 overs.  

Mumbai Indians will now face Gujarat Titans for a place in the finals against Chennai Super Kings.
