Kunal Kemmu has unveiled the motivation behind his directorial debut, “Madgaon Express”!
Marking his directorial debut, Kunal Kemmu’s comedy flick “Madgaon Express” is set for release this weekend. Starring Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, and Nora Fatehi, the movie follows three childhood friends on a journey to Goa, leading them into the realm of drug trafficking. Despite Kemmu’s established acting career, he was propelled to direct “Madgaon Express” due to challenges in his professional journey. In a recent interview, he disclosed that creating the film was a way for him to confront and cope with his mental health battles.
Kunal Kemmu revealed in an interview that after the success of “Go Goa Gone,” he felt compelled to embark on a personal venture, resulting in his directorial debut with “Madgaon Express.” Reflecting on the process, he shared, “I had self-doubt while writing it, but received positive feedback from the outset. I was advised to direct it as well due to the way I had penned it.” Despite feeling unprepared initially, Kemmu was encouraged by the suggestion to take on the directorial role.
Opening up about his struggles while writing “Madgaon Express,” Kunal Kemmu expressed, “I wanted to see if I could write something humorous even when I wasn’t feeling my best. That’s when I penned the film’s synopsis, and a few scenes stood out, helping me overcome that phase.”
Kunal further revealed during the interview that working on “Madgaon Express” helped him navigate through his mental health struggles and provided him with a personal project to focus on. “I was doing it for myself. It brought me happiness. Writing a good scene gave me purpose throughout the day and a sense of contentment by the end of it.”
Reflecting on his writing journey, Kunal expressed satisfaction with his work and emphasized the importance of positive conversations and beliefs during challenging times for mental well-being.
