AAP councillor Ram Chander made a surprise return to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) just four days after defecting to the BJP. Chander, who represents Shahbad Dairy, regretted his decision to join the BJP and claimed that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appeared in his dream, scolding and instructing him to return to the AAP. Chander’s return comes ahead of the crucial Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) ward committee elections, scheduled for September 4. His defection to the BJP had given the party an advantage in the Narela Zone, but his return to AAP has narrowed the gap.

Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia marked their significance in Chander’s return. Sisodia welcomed Chander, saying he had returned to his “Aam Aadmi family.” Chander’s return may impact the upcoming ward committee elections, particularly in the Narela Zone. Chander had initially defected to the BJP, citing dissatisfaction with AAP’s leadership and his exclusion from the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections. However, he now claims that joining the BJP was his “biggest mistake” and promises to remain with AAP throughout his life.
