Kashmir tourism witnesses a dramatic rise amid heat waves
Jammu and Kashmir tourism is going through an extraordinary boom as people from all over India are heading to the state amidst the ongoing heat wave. The Kashmir Valley has also experienced rainfall, which has cut through the heat and kept the temperature under 20 degree Celsius. While there are several hill stations and mountainous regions for tourists to visit, a large chunk of them have chosen Kashmir as their preferred destination, which reflects the growth story of Kashmir tourism. Last year itself, this region welcomed a record 1.88 crore tourists.
Quite recently, the Government of India organised a brief G20 Summit in the state of J&K, where delegates from all over the world visited and travelled around this region to take cognisance of its rich culture and heritage. Although the discussion around this event revolved around Kashmir’s return to normalcy after a volatile past, it majorly added wings to Kashmir tourism as people and businessmen around the world got a glimpse of the investment opportunities in this region. Tourism is one of the biggest foundations of J&K’s economy, and the massive response from tourists has set this state to become another tourism hub of the country.
