Kargil Vijay Diwas: Rajnath Singh Pays Tribute to Martyrs

On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Kargil War Memorial to pay his respects to the soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1999 war. He also visited the tombstones of the martyrs, which are located near the War Memorial in Delhi, as per PTI. Singh also interacted with soldiers by recalling the valour of the fallen jawans in the Kargil war and their sacrifices that led to India’s victory while also addressing several issues relating to national security today.

Rajnath Singh marked this Kargil Vijay Diwas by stating that India is willing to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in the future in case of a conflict against Pakistan. This is a significant statement considering that the Indian Army was instructed not to cross the LoC while engaging with Pakistani soldiers and intruders due to diplomatic pressure from the West. However, this statement with Rajnath Singh showcases India’s evolving mindset and growing strength in the world. Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande also addressed the soldiers during this event, highlighting the difficult odds that our soldiers overcame to defeat Pakistan during the war, and recalled the contributions of the Indian Air Force in Kargil as well.
