Johnny Depp gets a 7-minute standing ovation for ‘Jeanne du Barry’
Johnny Depp has officially made a grand comeback in films after his defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard. His periodical drama Jeanne du Barry was recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France, where he got a huge standing ovation for his performance as King Louis XV. The actor humbly responded to this massive response while holding back tears, according to Variety. Depp’s fans showed up in large numbers to support him at this event, and the Hollywood icon made sure to spend enough time interacting with them after the premiere.
Jeanne du Barry follows the story of the titular character who rises through the social ranks and becomes King Louis XV’s love interest, despite facing rejection by society. Johnny Depp was removed from several film projects, including Fantastic Beasts 3, after Amber Heard accused him of domestic violence. The Pirates of the Caribbean star responded by filing a defamation suit against heard and eventually winning it. He was shown immense support by his fans on social media during the course of his trial before he eventually emerged victorious. Heard, on the other hand, recently moved to Madrid to take a break from films.
