JDU Leader Nitish Kumar Takes Oath as Bihar CM for the 3rd Time in 5 Yrs
JDU leader Nitish Kumar has yet again shifted his political alliance in Bihar by rejoining BJP’s NDA group and taking oath as the state’s Chief Minister for a record 9th time. This comes as a major development ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as JDU was among the stronger political pillars of Indian National Congress’ I.N.D.I. Alliance. He was erstwhile allied with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD before shifting back in coalition with BJP.
Notably, JDU leader Nitish Kumar had previously allied with BJP twice before breaking their alliance and continued serving as the CM. While he has routinely criticised BJP and actively participated in the formation of I.N.D.I. Alliance, JDU’s friction with RJD was visible in Bihar in recent times as his former Deputy CM and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav skipped multiple occasions that required his presence before the ultimate breaking of their alliance. The current coalition government of BJP and JDU will continue till 2025 before the next state assembly elections.
