Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan has stepped down from her role in the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology, chaired by BJP’s Nishikant Dubey. She has joined the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles, and Skill Development, which former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai leads. A bulletin from the Rajya Sabha secretariat confirmed this change. Trinamool Congress leader Saket Gokhale, previously part of the Labour Committee, has taken Bachchan’s place in the Communications and IT panel.
Additionally, Rajya Sabha members A A Rahim (CPI-M) and R Girirajan, who served on the Parliamentary Committee on External Affairs chaired by Shashi Tharoor, have moved to the panel on Housing and Urban Affairs. In other updates, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has nominated JD(U) member Sanjay Kumar Jha and BJP member Dhairyashil Patil to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources.
