Is Apple Watch and Other Smartwatches Bad For Your Health?
Apple Watch is among the most sought-after smartwatches in the market today. Among the many features these smartwatches have to offer, their health features are considered to be perhaps their best aspect. Smartwatches help in tracking your daily steps, burnt calories, accurate vital signs, and timely alerts if it detects a potential health threat. However, it appears that an Apple Watch and all smartwatches can have a negative impact on your health as well, as per a new IANS report.
Health researchers from Florida Atlantic University have conducted a study that claims that materials like plastic, rubber, cloth, leather, and metal, which are used to make their wristbands, cause a bacteria build-up on the wristband that can affect your health. Senior author Nwadiuto Esiobu, Ph.D., says on this matter, “The quantity and taxonomy of bacteria we found on the wristbands show that there is a need for regular sanitation of these surfaces. Even at relatively low numbers, these pathogens are of public health significance.”
It is hence essential to use proper sanitation products in cleaning your Apple Watch or any other smartwatch on a frequent basis to avoid any potential health issues.
