India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, praised all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, calling him a “complete package” who can create magic on the field. Morkel’s admiration came after Jadeja reached the milestone of 300 Test wickets and 3000 runs, becoming the second-fastest player to achieve this, following England’s Ian Botham. Jadeja secured his 300th wicket by dismissing Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud during the rain-affected second Test. Morkel highlighted Jadeja’s versatility, emphasizing his contributions with the bat, ball, and in the field, describing him as a player any team would want. Over the years, Jadeja has formed a formidable partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin, restricting opponents’ scoring opportunities and consistently putting pressure on the opposition. Morkel noted that this ability to maintain discipline from both ends makes them a dangerous bowling duo.
Despite the inclement weather and two days of lost play, Morkel praised the Indian team for their readiness and professionalism. He commended the players for staying focused, continuing their gym work, and maintaining their physical conditioning. When play resumed, Morkel was impressed by India’s aggressive approach, particularly their bowlers, who quickly reduced Bangladesh to 26 for two in the second innings. Morkel also spoke about the flexibility of India’s batting lineup, specifically mentioning Rishabh Pant’s adaptability to different situations. He pointed out that India’s batters can switch between attacking and defensive play based on the match context, a significant advantage. Morkel admired the Indian team’s professionalism, lauding their preparation, fitness, and commitment to leaving no stone unturned in pursuit of excellence. He described it as a privilege to be part of such an environment.
