Indian Batsmen Dominate West Indies on Day 1 of the 2nd Test
The Indian batsmen have taken India to a commanding position on Day 1 of the second test against West Indies after having won the first test with a massive margin. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma provided another wonderful opening partnership of 139 runs, before Jaiswal was dismissed by Jason Holder for 57 runs. Number 3 Shubhman Gill failed to perform yet again as he fell for just ten runs, and skipper Rohit Sharma was bowled by Warrican soon after. However, India’s ace batsman Virat Kohli entered the field determined to hold the fort for his team.
While his partner Ajinkya Rahane was tricked by Shannon Gabriel and sent back to the pavilion on 8, Kohli led the charge and smashed the W est Indies bowlers while also ensuring that he did not put his wicket at risk. Ravindra Jadeja supported him carefully without attempting any big shots and rotating strikes on regular occasions. Despite losing four batsmen before reaching 200, India managed to reach 288 runs at stumps without losing another wicket. While Jadeja scored 36 runs, Virat Kohli is looking at another test century as he remains not out at 87.
The two seasoned Indian batsmen promise to take India’s tally to 400 runs or beyond with their current form, which is getting better with each passing day of this tour.
