Indian Athletes qualify for Paris in 4x400m Relay
India’s men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams secured spots for the Paris Olympics, adding to the nation’s tally of 19 track and field athletes, including Neeraj Chopra, the defending javelin throw champion. The women’s team, comprising Rupal Chaudhary, M R Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Subha Venkatesan, clinched their spot by finishing second in their heat with a time of 3 minutes and 29.35 seconds behind Jamaica.
Similarly, the men’s team, composed of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Amoj Jacob, secured their qualification by finishing second in their heat with a collective time of 3 minutes and 3.23 seconds behind the USA. The top two teams from each heat in the second round advanced to the Olympics, scheduled from July 26 to August 11. Notably, the Indian women’s team had previously finished fifth in the first-round qualifying heat, while the men’s team had faced setbacks in the same round.
