Indian Air Force May Expand to ‘Air and Space Force’ 

The Indian Air Force is witnessing a massive expansion of modern fighter jets and other defence equipment as the nation prepares to counter the future security threats it faces. However, it appears that along with the defence arsenal, the Indian Air Force may also have an expanded jurisdictional arena as the air force may also be given charge to guard Bharat and its interests in the space sector, which is set for a massive boom as private players across the world invest in it.

The redesignation of the Indian Air Force will be the Indian Air and Space Force (IASF) if this consideration is turned into an approved decision. However, they are still in the process of building the theatre command hierarchy within this organisation. But that has not stopped the IAF from exploring more options to solidify and merge the air and space sectors as Bharat aims to become a space power. The IAF officials have been working with the Indian Research Space Organisation (ISRO) to bring this goal to light.
