India records highest Covid-19 cases in 6 months
We are likely looking at another wave of coronavirus as the Covid-19 cases have been steadily rising in India for the past few weeks. As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 5,335 covid cases were recorded across the country on 6th of April, making it the highest in 195 days. A total of 13 people succumbed to this virus on the said date, taking the death toll up to 5,30, 929.
With these recent developments, the total active caseload in India has gone up to 25, 587. As per the numbers, Delhi has seen a sharp surge of cases reaching 509 fresh cases but fortunately with no deaths. However, while Mumbai has far lesser numbers in comparison, the city reported one fatality. The numbers have also risen in the neighbouring states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. This news comes days after PM Narendra Modi had chaired a meeting to take a tab on the rising Covid cases.
While no advisory has been issued on this development yet, government officials continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis to take all necessary precautions if and when required.
