A Spanish travel vlogger who was reportedly gang-raped in Dumka, Jharkhand, is in a stable physical condition but deeply traumatized emotionally
According to the principal district judge of Dumka, Anil Kumar Mishra. Mishra, also the chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, met with the Spanish national and submitted a report to the Jharkhand Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). His report highlighted the provision of adequate security and assistance to the victim during the investigation, including facilitating her statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The Jharkhand police have compensated her with ₹10 lakh. Mishra assured that the perpetrators would be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.
Currently, four individuals have been arrested, and the search for other suspects continues. Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad has taken suo moto cognizance of the case and instructed the police to provide regular updates. The Spanish couple, through social media, urged the public and authorities to assist in identifying the accused. They emphasized that incidents like rape or robbery can happen anywhere and commended India as a great country worth visiting. The Superintendent of Police in Dumka was instructed by the Jharkhand High Court to submit a status report by the upcoming hearing date, that is, Thursday.
