Ind vs Eng 2nd Test: Jaiswal Reaches 200, Puts Bharat on the Front Foot
Ind vs Eng 2nd test has reached at a rather favourable position for Bharat at the lunch break of Day 2 as the dynamic young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stepped up to the challenge despite a strong pace attack by English bowlers. After the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma, Shubhman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and debutant Rajat Patidar, Jaiswal continued the attack with the following middle-order batsmen, who failed to capitalize on the momentum with their individual performances. While Axar Patel was caught on 27, wicket-keeper Srikar Bharat only managed to add 17 runs on the board.
However, Jaiswal kept the scoreboard ticking with all these partnerships and crossed the impressive 200-run mark before getting picked up by James Anderson at 209. Team India’s collective score reached a commanding 396 runs in 112 overs despite the quick toppling of the middle-order batsmen. The English openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett responded by building a promising opening partnership of 32 runs in 6 overs before the tea break was announced. Despite the good start, Rohit Sharma and his men hold a strong ground and will likely dominate the Ind vs Eng 2nd test match if they manage to pick wickets in quick successions after the break.
