IAF to Launch First LCA Tejas Mk1A Squadron at NAL Air Base
There has been an air of anticipation about the deployment of the LCA Tejas Mk1A fighter jet that has been developed and manufactured in Bharat. While Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself have been hyping up the launch of LCA Tejas Mk1A in the defence market, the Indian Air Force is yet to deploy squadrons of the fighter jets in its own arsenal. However, in a recent development, the IAF is planning to deploy the first squadron of the plane in the NAL air base, which is located in Rajasthan.
As per Republic, the first LCA Tejas Mk1A of the squadron will be equipped with the Israeli Elta ELM 2052 radar, and the rest of the fighter planes will be equipped with Bharat’s own Uttam Radar. One of the biggest purposes that this jet will serve is to replace the obsolete MiG line of jets, which have claimed the lives of many IAF pilots over the decades. The launch of this LCA Tejas Mk1A squadron will mark the beginning of Bharat’s leap into not only becoming a self-reliant nation in terms of defence, but also a major upcoming defence exporter.
