Huawei has officially entered the luxury electric vehicle market by launching its first premium sedan, the Stelato S9. This high-tech luxury EV, developed in collaboration with Beijing-based automaker BAIC Group, is positioned to compete in China’s rapidly growing electric vehicle sector. The Stelato S9 is available in two variants: the Max, starting at RMB 399,800 (€51,900), and the Ultra, priced at RMB 449,800 (€58,300). Both models are equipped with a robust 100 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 816 km for the Max and 721 km for the Ultra based on CLTC testing. The vehicles also feature rapid charging capabilities, allowing them to recharge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
Huawei has integrated its cutting-edge technology into the Stelato S9, including the Advanced Driving System 3.0 (ADS 3.0) for intelligent assisted driving and the omnidirectional collision avoidance system CAS 3.0. The Ultra variant of the Stelato S9 offers a luxurious interior with zero-gravity seats and a 32-inch lift-up projection screen, transforming the car into a mobile entertainment centre. The vehicle’s dimensions are impressive, measuring 5,160 mm in length, 1,987 mm in width, and 1,486 mm in height, with a 3,050 mm wheelbase. It makes the Stelato S9 longer than the Lucid Air and the BMW i5 but slightly shorter than the BMW i7. Depending on the variant, the sedan comes with either 20-inch ten-spoke wheels or 21-inch forged wheels. With the debut of the Stelato S9, Huawei is signalling its intent to become a significant player in the automotive industry, leveraging its technological expertise to carve out a substantial share of the EV market.
