How Randeep Hooda lost 26 kgs to play Veer Savarkar on screen
Yesterday during the birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar, Randeep Hooda shared the teaser of his directorial debut Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, where he will himself portray the political leader’s role. The actor, who is known for absolute off-screen commitment to his role, had reportedly lost 26 kilos to attain Savarkar’s look on camera. According to ETimes, the actor only had a date and a glass of milk during the entire shoot of the film, as revealed by the film producer Anand Pandit.
Along with directing this venture, Randeep Hooda has also co-written this film along with Utkarsh Naithani. The film will cover Savarkar’s heroics and contributions to India’s freedom struggle while also pointing out the dense nature of politics that used to take place in the time period. Randeep Hooda had made a similar physical transformation to play Sarabjit, an Indian national who was imprisoned in Pakistan on espionage charges and eventually killed in jail. Swatantryaveer Savarkar also stars Ankita Lokhande and Amit Sial, and it will be released in theatres later this year.
