Highlights of Exit Poll Results 2024: BJP-Led NDA Anticipated to Secure Major Victory, According to Exit Polls

Exit polls suggest a strong majority for the NDA, projecting another term for the Modi government. However, opposition leaders remain hopeful and await the final results.

The seven-phase Lok Sabha election concluded on Saturday, with polling on 57 parliamentary seats across seven states and Chandigarh. Following the final phase, exit polls were released by various agencies, including Times Now-ETG, VMR, C-Voter, and Today’s Chanakya. Predictions indicate a significant victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with Times Now-ETG and other agencies forecasting the NDA to secure over 360 seats. Conversely, the Congress and I.N.D.I Alliance are expected to win around 152 seats out of 543. This echoes the 2019 exit polls, which accurately predicted a decisive win for the NDA. Key political figures have reacted strongly to these predictions. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva criticized Arvind Kejriwal’s dismissal of exit polls as biased. Tripura CM Manik Saha praised PM Modi’s leadership, attributing the projected success to his governance. Congress leaders like Shashi Tharoor and Salman Khurshid expressed skepticism, urging patience until the official results on June 4.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia derided the opposition alliance as ineffective, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi dismissed the exit polls as “Modiji’s poll,” expressing confidence in the I.N.D.I Alliance’s success. In Maharashtra, exit polls present a mixed outlook. Despite internal splits within Shiv Sena and NCP, the BJP-led alliance may not replicate its 2019 performance of 41 seats. Tamil Nadu’s predictions show the INDIA bloc winning the majority of seats, while the BJP-led NDA is expected to secure a few. Political analyst Prashant Kishor urged the public to disregard exit polls, labeling them as speculative. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized them as manipulated by PM Modi, predicting a victory for the INDIA bloc with 295 seats. The Election Commission has issued detailed instructions for the counting process, emphasizing adherence to protocols for EVMs, VVPATs, and Postal Ballots.
