Health Ministry Announces to 100-bed Hospitals for Amarnath Pilgrims

India’s Union Health Ministry has announced its initiative to set up two major hospitals for all the pilgrims who take part in the Amarnath Yatra. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was recently briefed about the steps that are being taken to provide health-related facilities for all the pilgrims, to which Mandaviya directed them to set up proper hospitals for them. Consequently, he made a public statement on this matter, saying, “Will ensure that the devotees are provided the best health services and medical facilities during the Yatra.”

As per this initiative, 100-bed hospitals will be set up in Baltal and Chandanwari for the pilgrims. The Amarnath Yatra is filled with several geographical and climatic challenges that pose a potential threat to the pilgrims’ health, which has prompted the Health Ministry to pursue these projects. DRDO has taken charge of building these hospitals, which will provide a wide range of diagnoses and treatment, lab facilities, ICUs, and hyperbaric oxygen chambers, to name a few. The Health Ministry has also issued advisories specifically for the pilgrims in the forms of ‘Do’s’ and ‘Don’ts’ to spread awareness about taking care of one’s health in high-altitude places.
