Google kicks multiple Indian-origin Apps from PlayStore!

Google has recently taken action by removing ten Indian apps from its Android Play Store. Among the notable brands affected are Shaadi.com, Naukri.com, and 99 Acres. This move signifies a significant stance by Google against certain Indian apps. Bharat Matrimony, Shaadi.com, Naukari.COM, TrulyMadly, 99Acres, Alt Balaji, and many other apps have been taken down, according to the media reports.

Last year, some developers were warned by Google that their apps might not comply with Google’s billing policies. Following this warning, these developers were eventually notified, leading to the removal of ten disputed apps from the Google Play Store. However, the full list of disputed apps has not been disclosed by Google. Google asserts that Indian app developers have been non-compliant with its app billing policy for an extended period, prompting this action as part of its policy to remove such apps from the Google Play Store.

Previously, the Madras High Court rejected a petition from the app developers, indicating that the Competition Commission of India (CCI) should investigate whether Google is exerting undue influence in the market. Although the Supreme Court declined a request to halt Google’s delisting of the apps last month, it is still reviewing the case.
