Global South Summit: PM Modi to Virtually Host 125 Nations
The second Global South Summit is all set to be hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has expressed Bharat’s commitment to voice the interests and opinions of the Global South on international forums. A range of issues, such as security, trade, and the ongoing important global events, are expected to be discussed at this summit. It will have ten overall sessions, which comprise eight Ministerial Sessions, including Foreign, Education, Finance, Energy, Health, and others. The theme for the inaugural leaders’ session is “Together, For Everyone’s Growth, With Everyone’s Trust.”
The Global South Summit will be crucial for Bharat as it enhances its economic and defence ties not just with the African Union but also with multiple Latin American nations like Brazil and Argentina, who are also a part of the Global South. PM Modi has already showcased the nation’s commitment to this bloc by recently making the African Union a member of the G20 Summit, which will now be designated as G20+ with their inclusion. The Global South Summit is slated to take place on January 12-13, wherein the Prime Minister will address the representatives from these countries virtually.
