From Bollywood to Ballot: Kangana Ranaut’s Political Journey in Mandi

Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, running as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, joined in the Holi festivities with the party’s district unit. Expressing her gratitude, she thanked BJP chief JP Nadda, Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the opportunity to serve.

“I extend warm Holi greetings to everyone. This land is where I belong, and its call has brought me back. I consider myself fortunate. If chosen, I am committed to serving its people. Today is an emotional day for my family and me. I am deeply thankful to JP Nadda, Anurag Thakur, and others. The BJP fosters a culture of cooperation, and I am aligned with this ethos. Together, we will march forward and emerge victorious. Our campaign will be strong,” she conveyed to Media.

In a viral video, Kangana Ranaut was seen meeting local BJP leaders and applying tilak on their foreheads as part of the Holi celebrations. She then, along with the other leaders, chanted, “Jai Shri Ram”!

The BJP recently announced its fifth list of 111 Lok Sabha poll candidates. Notably, it omitted union ministers, Ashwini Kumar Choubey and V K Singh, as well as MP Varun Gandhi. Among the new candidates featured in the list were actors Kangana Ranaut and Arun Govil.

Arun Govil, known for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the television series Ramayan, will contest from Meerut.

In this latest list, the BJP has excluded nearly 37 incumbent MPs, including nine from Uttar Pradesh, five from Gujarat, and multiple others from states like Odisha, Bihar, Karnataka, and Jharkhand. Several leaders who recently joined the BJP after leaving other parties were rewarded with tickets.

Kerala BJP president K Surendra will contest from Wayanad, the same constituency where former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is standing for reelection.

Naveen Jindal, expressing his gratitude, thanked PM Modi for the BJP ticket. “I extend my Holi greetings to everyone. This marks a significant moment for me, akin to a second innings, by joining the BJP. Their trust in me by granting the ticket is something I deeply appreciate. Kurukshetra’s people are like family to me. Together, we will work towards PM Modi’s vision of a developed India. The deterioration of the Congress is a result of negativity, but I believe in positivity,” he remarked.
