Former India Cricketer Calls Bumrah a Potential Future Captain
Former India cricketer Kiren More has made a big statement about Jasprit Bumrah during his recent conversation with Jio Cinema, which may come as an unexpected statement for many. He has put faith in the pacer as a capable future captain, saying, “He has to be given the captaincy. He is a good thinker of the game. He is a potential future captain in Test cricket across all formats as well. I have always believed fast bowlers make good captains.” He then cited the success of pacer Pat Cummins as the Aussie skipper.
“It depends on his fitness. For a fast bowler to lead, we saw that with Pat Cummins in the Ashes. I think for you to bowl, play all formats and then lead, it can sometimes be a bit taxing, which is why we see batters taking over the mantle. Like they say, batting is an easier job,” the former India cricketer said. Furthermore, More also cautioned the Indian side against overusing Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming tournaments, despite the tremendous impact he can make, especially in the limited-overs formats. He mentioned his return after a long gap due to injury, and overburdening him could prove detrimental to the team.
