The detergents are added to make the milk appear whiter and frothier. Ram, an entrepreneur who formerly worked with a large company manufacturing liquid detergents, shared a shocking story on social media. A sales executive from his company revealed that some customers were buying strong-smelling detergents to add to milk, enhancing its appearance. Another user shared an incident involving a peanut candy factory where a temporary cook added dishwashing liquid to the candy mixture to make it crispier and increase production volume. The factory owner immediately sacked the cook and disposed of the entire stock of candy. This incident underscores the risks associated with food adulteration and the severe measures required to ensure food safety. Reports from the Indian government have indicated that a significant portion of milk consumed in India is contaminated with detergent, caustic soda, urea, and even paint.
