Firing takes place at Punjab’s Bathinda Military Station : In the early hours of Bathinda Military Station in Punjab, gunshots were reported wherein multiple fatal casualties have been confirmed. The South Western Command of the Indian army has informed that four casualties have been reported in this firing which took place at 4:35 a.m. on the 12th of April. The area was immediately cordoned off, and quick-reaction teams were activated to take charge of the situation. Search operations are underway to ensure complete safety and get further intel on the situation. There has been no confirmation yet on who opened fire and the following escalation of the situation.
Bathinda’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gulneet Khurana, has asserted that a police team is ready to take action if required but has yet to receive permission from the army. His statement also suggests that the incident could be an ‘internal matter’ since there is no evidence yet that could suggest any external conspiracy behind it.
