The legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is all set to emerge from retirement and retake the field! He has confirmed his participation in the inaugural International Masters League (IML), a highly anticipated six-team T20 tournament later this year. The competition will be played across three venues in India: Mumbai, Lucknow, and Raipur. The IML will feature former international players from India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, England, and Sri Lanka. The IML is the brainchild of Tendulkar and former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, who will serve as the league’s commissioner. Together with PMG Sports and the sports marketing company SPORTIVE, Tendulkar and Gavaskar will establish a company to organize the tournament.

The league will be held annually, and expressions of interest have been invited from parties interested in owning one of the franchise teams. Tendulkar expressed his excitement about the new venture, highlighting the growing popularity of T20 cricket and the desire among fans to witness legendary players compete in this dynamic format. He noted that while athletes may retire from professional sports, their competitive spirit remains intact, and the IML will allow cricketers and fans to reconnect. Sunil Gavaskar echoed Tendulkar’s sentiments, stating that the International Masters League will again allow fans to see their cricketing heroes in action. The tournament is expected to rekindle memories of past rivalries while offering a fresh experience for fans of all ages.
