Fake Diljit Dosanjh Concert Tickets Scam: A 29-Year-Old B.Tech Student Arrested in Delhi
A 29-year-old B.Tech dropout, Kaushik Raj, was arrested in Delhi for defrauding several individuals by selling fake tickets to an upcoming Diljit Dosanjh concert
The scam, worth ₹4.76 lakh, involved duping multiple victims, which Raj used to finance a lavish lifestyle, including purchasing expensive gadgets and trips to cities like Bengaluru, Goa, and Mumbai. According to the police, the investigation began when a Neb Sarai resident filed a complaint after discovering that the 69 concert tickets he had purchased were counterfeit. Raj, originally from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, had dropped out of college during his second year of a B.Tech program and later began freelancing in event management. He used this experience to create and sell fake tickets for the concert scheduled at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26. The complainant, who initially bought five tickets from Raj, found him trustworthy and proceeded to buy 69 more, only to discover they were fake upon verification with the official helpline.
The police investigation revealed that Raj had also conned Chandigarh and West Bengal individuals using similar tactics. Once payments were received, Raj would turn off his phone and leave the city, staying in hotels and spending the defrauded money on club visits, an iPhone, and an Apple watch. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan, Raj’s fraudulent activities were traced through his bank transactions, which revealed 16 deposits amounting to ₹4.61 lakh. Raj was finally apprehended at Nizamuddin Railway Station, where police recovered various items, including an iPhone worth ₹1.35 lakh, an Apple watch costing ₹50,000, five debit cards, and the mobile phone used to commit the crime. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full scope of his fraudulent operations.
