England Cricket Board to call back a retired player for Ashes?
The England Cricket Board is already putting their plans for Ashes into action as they have reportedly approached a retired player for the series. As per Republic, the cricketing body has asked all-rounder Moeen Ali to come out of his retirement for the series, which is taking place later this year. While there has been no confirmation from Ali on this development yet, the decision to approach him comes after their player Jack Leach has been ruled out of Ashes due to his injury.
The in-form spinner has developed a fracture on his lower back which has left their side without a match-winning spinner. However, if Ali chooses to return to test cricket, not only will England get an above-par spinner, but they will also get an additional batsman in the middle order to score extra runs. The England Cricket Board is currently preparing for the World Test Championship final between India and Australia, which will soon take place in The Oval cricket ground. Both the teams have reached the venue and are getting used to the pitch conditions of the ground, which can be extremely challenging for both batsmen and bowlers. WTC begins tomorrow, I.e., June 7 and will continue till June 11.
