Elon Musk-led X Blocks 2.3 Million Users in India
Elon Musk-led X is aggressively working towards making itself a super app for communication and multimedia entertainment. It has major expansion plans in India and is thus working in sync with the Indian government to make sure that it curbs all content on its platform that violates Indian laws. The platform has officially blocked 2.3 million accounts in India that had dark content that was in violation of Indian laws, as per IANS. A majority of these bans are either due to the promotion of child sexual exploitation or non-consensual nudity.
The company has delivered on its transparency policy by reporting these numbers in due time. Over 5 lakh of these accounts were deleted between May 26 and June 25. 1,772 of these accounts were associated with terrorism and were promoting terror activity within the country. Some of the other cases behind these bans include abuse/harassment, hateful conduct, privacy infringement, and child sexual exploitation. The Elon Musk–led X has reassured its commitment to deleting bot and fake accounts ever since Musk’s takeover and has been acting swiftly towards their promise.
