Delhivery mimicking Blinkit, Instamart and Zepto!

Delhivery, a logistics company, has announced plans to provide a network of shared dark stores for e-commerce companies to facilitate rapid same-day deliveries

This move marks a significant shift for Delhivery, which has traditionally focused on large intercity shipments. The shared dark store network will enable multiple companies to deliver products within a 2-4 hour window, targeting a sub-segment between same-day and next-day deliveries. According to CEO Sahil Barua, the shared dark store network will help companies variable their costs, as stand-alone dark stores can be expensive. Barua emphasized that this service will not be a significant revenue driver for Delhivery but rather a way to participate in the growing rapid delivery market.

The company has already been piloting a similar offering and has existing mother warehouses and fulfillment capabilities. This service’s target customers differ from prominent quick commerce companies like Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto, which focus on 15-20 minute deliveries. Instead, Delhivery targets companies that require 2-4 hour deliveries, such as those selling mobile phones and adjacent products. By providing a shared dark store network, Delhivery aims to capitalize on the growing demand for rapid deliveries and expand its offerings beyond traditional logistics services.
