Cyberattack Threat: Bharat is the Most Targeted Nation, Report Says

The cyberattack threat on Bharat is growing stronger by the year as it faces the greatest number of online attacks in the world. A report by Cyfirma states that the number of cyberattacks on Bharat has gone up by 100% in 2022 compared to 2021. Phishing attacks, malware attacks and ransomware attacks are the most common in this list, which specifically target the healthcare sector the most. The biggest cyberattack threat expectedly comes from China, from where over a dozen cyberattack campaigns are said to have been launched.

Cyfirma CEO and Founder Kumar Ritesh says, “India’s growing prominence at the world stage and push from Western economies to favour India over other large countries, a young and tech-savvy population with low cybersec maturity has played a key role in hackers coming after critical assets, government agencies with an intent to breach them and harm India’s strategic interests.” Bharat’s premier agencies like ISRO have for long been one of the central targets of all the entities who pose a cyberattack threat on us. Tangible steps, hence, need to be taken today to counter the rising future threats to our technology.
