Cracks in I.N.D.I.A. Alliance as Cong. To Go Solo in Delhi
The Opposition’s I.N.D.I.A. alliance appears to be in a turbulent state with less than a year remaining for the Lok Sabha elections to take place. Indian National Congress has shown intent to fight the Lok Sabha in all seven Delhi seats without sharing any with Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party. Congress leader Alka Lamba told Republic, “In the four-hour-long meeting, Rahul Gandhi, Kharge ji, KC Venugopal and Deepak Babaria ji were present. It is very early to say that Congress will contest the election alone. We Delhi unit have said in the meeting that we are ready if the party has to contest alone.”
She further continued, “We kept our point regarding the A.A.P. alliance, but the final decision will be taken by Rahul Gandhi.” This approach has not gone down well with their I.N.D.I.A. alliance partner A.A.P. Their leader Priyanka Kakkar slammed this approach and said, “If Congress has already decided not to form an alliance with us, then it is of no use for us to attend the next I.N.D.I.A. alliance meeting and waste our time. Our top leadership will decide whether or not we’ll attend the next meeting.” Another A.A.P. leader Priyanka Lamba added, “Congress came to us for an alliance as they have no relevance in Delhi. The top leadership will take the final decision.” The next few months will be critical for the I.N.D.I.A. alliance and whether it will stand the test of time or not.
