Covid numbers shoot up as India records 7,830 new cases in last 24 hours  

Covid : The spread of coronavirus seems to be gaining speed with every passing day as the numbers keep increasing. The Health Ministry has updated that a total of 7,830 new Covid cases have been registered in the last 24 hours, and the active caseload has now gone up to 40,215. Sixteen people have died of this virus in the stated time period, and the fatality rate is now at 1.19%, as per PTI.   

The state of Maharashtra has witnessed a rise of 180% as the numbers stand at 919 Covid cases and one death. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has consequently urged the health department to increase testing in Mumbai after the city recorded 242 of those cases itself, as per a Mid Day report. Delhi, on the other hand, has reported 980 patients with a positivity rate of 25.98%. There has been a significant spurt of Covid cases in this city, and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently assured that all the measures were being taken to restrict the spread and prepare for a possible future surge in cases.
