CM Siddaramaiah appeals for cancellation of Hassan MP’s Diplomatic Passport
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken decisive action regarding the Prajwal Revanna sexual abuse case, addressing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the cancellation of the JD(S) MP’s diplomatic passport. The May 22 letter expresses concern over Revanna fleeing to Germany using his diplomatic passport shortly after allegations surfaced and just before the first FIR was filed against him. Siddaramaiah emphasized the state’s commitment to justice, citing the establishment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe Revanna’s alleged crimes against women. He requested PM Modi’s assistance securing Revanna’s return to India to face criminal charges, noting that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had received the letter from the Karnataka Government.
The accused MP, who is contesting for re-election in the general elections, faces serious accusations of sexual abuse and assault. Despite a court-issued warrant and Interpol’s Blue Corner Notice seeking information on his whereabouts, Revanna remains abroad. The Karnataka government’s efforts to revoke his diplomatic passport highlight the urgency of the situation, with Minister Parameshwara stressing the need for cooperation from the Centre by the law. As the legal proceedings unfold and efforts to secure Revanna’s return intensify, the case underscores the importance of accountability and cooperation between state and central authorities in addressing such sensitive matters.
