CM Eknath Shinde Slams Uddhav Thackeray for Being a ‘Traitor’
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has backed BJP leader and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis as he orchestrated a political coup against NCP leader Sharad Pawar after his nephew Ajit Pawar influenced several NCP MLAs to join his camp as he formed an alliance with the BJP. Shinde had led a similar political coup against Uddhav Thackerey by assuming control of the Shiv Sena, and Thackeray has since attacked Shinde by calling his act a ‘betrayal.’ Shinde recently retorted, saying that Thackeray’s decision to fight elections using PM Narendra Modi’s and later Shiv Sena leader Balasaheb Thackeray’s name and joining hands with Congress and NCP was the real betrayal.
Eknath Shinde said, “No decisions were taken in the two-and-half years of the previous government. These people sought votes using their photos and then ditched them by joining hands with Congress. They deserted voters and misused people’s mandate for power. Who are the real traitors?” Ajit Pawar recently took oath as the deputy Chief Minister, and negotiations are currently on between BJP, Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP camp to distribute cabinet within the Maharashtra government.
