Chinese Fighter Jets and Warships Head Towards Taiwan
Taiwan’s Defence Ministry has confirmed that a large fleet of Chinese fighter jets and warships recently closed in on Taiwan in an aggressive display of power. This comes just before Taiwan’s annual military exercises that take place as a message to China and its aggressive invasion plans on the island nations. China’s People’s Liberation Army 38 fighter jets and 9 navy warships in this military drill between Tuesday 6 a.m. and Wednesday 6 a.m., as per AP. Around Wednesday noon, China also sent 30 other planes, which included their J-10 and J-16 fighters.
To counter the threat of Chinese fighter jets, which are primarily constituted of the Jaguar and Russian Sukhoi jets, India is also preparing its own line of advanced Tejas fighter jets. A few years ago, India purchased fourth-generation 36 Rafale fighter jets from France, which carry nuclear capability. In addition to this, the Indian Defence Ministry also placed an order of 26 naval version of Rafale jets for India’s aircraft carriers. This order reportedly consists of a pact wherein many parts of these jets will be manufactured in India as a significant step towards increasing the country’s self-reliance in the defence sector.
