China reduces airspace closure duration of the north of Taiwan
China reduces airspace closure : Tensions have been surging higher than ever between China and Taiwan after Chinese officials declared the north of Taiwan a no-fly zone from April 16 to April 18. With this notification, China is expected to conduct another aggressive posture towards the island nation. Several concerns were raised around the world since that area is considered to be one of the most actively engaged commercial zones for the world as far as transportation is concerned. However, a report from Republic states that China has shortened the duration of this closure from 9:30 a.m. to 9:57 a.m., which was earlier announced from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
While China is generally expected to conduct military exercises and drills with its aircraft, South Korea suggests that this closure could be for a satellite launch. President Yoon Suk Yeol was also briefed about these developments. This closure was reduced after Taiwan took up this issue with the International Civil Aviation Organisation, which is responsible for setting policies to control air traffic and ensure safe air travel. China has been actively conducting similar aggressive exercises as a signal to Taiwan and its growing relations with the outside world.
