CBI books PSU BECIL General Manager and others on corruption charges
Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited, or BECIL seems to have flown under the radar of CBI as their employees have been slapped with major corruption charges by the agency. The General Manager of BECIL, Ramit Lala, has been accused of colluding with private companies to grant them project tenders in exchange for favours or bribes. Multiple other unidentified employees of BECIL were also booked under these charges. This illegal practice was being conducted by Lala himself as he changed the criteria requirements that fit with his conspirators from the private companies.
Ramit Lala had reportedly given projects of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to Fusion Corporate Solution, as per The Print. Their deal also had two other big projects in the pipeline, one from Jal Shakti Ministry, and the other from Tourism Ministry. Along with favouring these private firms for the projects, Lala had also cleared their pending expense bills for their work. CBI, considered to be India’s premier investigation agency, has also filed charges against Fusion Corporate Solution’s Managing Director, Monica Dhawan, her father, JMP Khanna, and sister, Charu Khanna, who is also the Business Head. They have been booked under bribery charges in their deals with Lala and the other arrested BECIL employees. Further details on these developments are awaited.
